Small rifle primer adapters - Semtav - 04-17-2013
All week I was wishing I knew what happened to the primer adapters I got from Curt Hardcastle last summer.
Tonight I was getting a couple more containers of powder out of the box I got from BA at the Quigley last summer and there they were, in the bottom of the box.
Might get some tested if the snow ever quits and it gets above freezing long enough to get some shooting in.

even more interesting than small rifle primers is how small pistol would go.
with large primers, pistol are clearly superior at long range in my 45/2.4 and my 40/72.
tried large rifle again today just for luck, and vert was worse again.
small pistol might be even better again, particularly with little wads under them.

Only small pistol I found so far are the GM200M primers. Plan on testing whatever I can find.
I got the primer pocket and flash hole swaging tools from Kermit this week, so will be able to adjust pockets and holes too.

I don't think there is a link. Just a typewritten paper. When I do some I will try to take a pic and describe it.

Did some testing today with LR and LP primers to have a base with which to compare the SR and SP primers .
Wind was 18 gusting to 32 so I was more interested in the vertical. GM155M primers still give me the best vertical. 1 fouler then 3 shot group 5/16" V @100 yds. (with rifle depth pockets)
After a lot of trial and error, I finally got 4 small pistol primers installed in the cases. After all the problems, I'm pretty sure its going to have to be 3 shots in one hole to be worth messing with because its a pain to do.
First test will be the GM200M Small Pistol Magnum Match vs GM155M Large Pistol Magnum Match

we can't get lp match primers here in oz. probably insufficient market size.
did you use a paper wad under the primer?
i recently tried russian lr primers, and they are the best rifle primers i have used in bpcr, but not as good as fed lp with a wad for vert.
standard deviation figures from the chronograph take on more relevence as the range increases, and pistol primers give s.d. of around 4 for 10+ shots.
anything less than 10 shots is statistically invalid when establishing s.d.
the vert you got would certainly suggest that wind reading is a higher priority than closing groups further.

Previously I had tested with paper over the pistol primers but decided since I wasn't testing the LR primers that way I would start out with all the same, no wad over the primer.
