Don't know if Ron Long is still building anything or not , but the short liner was one of his complaints and so he built his liners to the length of your barrel.
I think you can mitigate some of the powder sanding by giving the barrel a heavy coat of Borebutter, but it does need to be repeated often during a long firing string.
I am awfully partial to my winchester lowall, there are alot of those Miroku built guns floating around at the various 22 shoots anymore.
