Proposal to the 22 BPCRA for 22 Creedmoor Match

With the growing success of the 22 BPCRA Silhouette match at Raton NM and across the country, I have come up with some ideas on creating a 22 Creedmoor Match to be fired on Steel Targets much like the original matches of the 1870’s. Our hope is to foster interest in BPCR Long Range and Give the 22 BPCR association a second venue to promote BPCR competition. Local ranges could easily fit this on existing 200 yard ranges, and expose local shooters to the sport. Rifles would have to be the same as used under current 22 BPCRA rules for Silhouette. Spotters would be allowed, 1 per shooter same as Silhouette and BPTR rules. To get shooters interested, a open class with no awards and half price entry fee could also implemented.
Outline for the course of fire and match, scoring, target sizes, yardages, classifications.

Keep the course of fire inside the current used ranges of 200 meters-yards.
Easy quick scoring: Bulls eye to be worth 5 points. Outer part of target 3 points. Max possible score of 50 points at each yard line.
Target size of 16X16 inches based on 200 meters max range. Bulls eye 10 inches. A Steel clanger of large enough size to fit behind the 10 inch opening in the middle of the outer part of the target, painted safety orange or flat black to be used as the 5 point bulls eye. The outer part of the target to be painted flat white used to score the 3 point outer. Targets would be of ¼ steel the same as used in the 22 BPCRA targets.

Yardages: 200 meters-yards for 1000 yards
180 meters-yards for 900 yards
160 meters-yards for 800 yards

Course of Fire: 10 shots at each yard line plus 2 sighters. Shooters name called out in rotation as in a gong match, 6-8 shooters per relay per target, and multiple targets may be used to facilitate more shooters. A Total of 50 points possible per yard line for total of 150 points-Match. 1 official score keeper per target. The match would be fast paced and lose some of the flavor of BPTR Events. Making it more in line with Gong shoots, and cheaper, as would only require 1 target per yard line. With all 3 targets being fired on at the same time a large amount of shooters could be handled.
A second idea for course of fire, and more in line with the current BPTR course of fire, would require at least 2 targets per each yardage, thus 2 shooters at each yard line, with a time limit of 10 minute sighting and score period with a 30 second ready per shooter. In each relay, a 3 minute prep period to follow for the second shooter after a cease fire is called for the previous shooter. 10-15 min target changes would be expected going from one yardage to the next. The Pair of targets at each yardage should be at least 3 feet apart.
This would facilitate 6 shooters on the line at a time with up to 5 relays for 30 shooters. This would allow more sighters and impartial scorekeeping. This is much like how the current America’s Cup match is fired, but with a spotter. No matter the course of fire, Classifications would be as follows for a 30 shots for record match:

Master 112-150 points
Expert 75-111 points
Sharpshooter 38-74 points
Marksman 0-37 points
