Bob, I was guessing that you might already have a .45/70 to use with a barrel liner. Instead, have you looked at the Highwall or Low Wall from C. Sharps Arms? Those are made in .22 LR and they are not as expensive as a '74 Sharps. I'm thinking about one of those.
