note from a friend of mine
There were protesters at the grocery store handing out pamphlets on the evils of America. I politely declined to take one. There was an elderly woman behind me and a young (20ish) female protester offered her a pamphlet, which she politely declined.
The young protester put her hand on the old woman's shoulder as a gesture of friendship and in a very soft voice the young lady said, "Lady, don't you care about the children of Iraq?"
The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my father died in France during World War II, I lost my husband in Korea, and a son in Vietnam. All three died so a bitch like you could have the right to stand here and bad mouth our country. If you touch me again, I'll stick this umbrella up your ass and open it."
God Bless America ! - I love getting old !

RE: note from a friend of mine
I'm glad that there are still folks like that little old lady around. I'm so sorry for her losses: May her Father, Husband, and Son be remembered and honored forever for their service and ultimate sacrifices.
May those protesters be suddenly struck with some common sense, or go to a country of their liking.
I am disgusted by the crap that is being forced on us as "correct" or "enlightened".
I'd much rather do without it, and be surrounded by genuine normalcy.
Let's not talk about getting old: I'm rapidly becoming one of those geezers!
God Bless America indeed! -Tom

Let's not talk 'geezers'!! I'm there I think!
See this woman here? She was 28 years old when I was born and lived in a tenant house right across the highway from where my home is now. She attends a church one mile northeast of my home and on occasion her daughter will drive her to my home as she wants to visit Mr Rick! Each year I send her a $100 bill for her birthday in November and before she left the day about a month ago when this photo was made she let me know that she would have another birthday this year. She has ten children, all living and all are workers and productive as was she and her husband, Ed Staten! She helped my Mom when I was a baby and has changed more than one diaper!! Tang is working on 104 years age this year.

RE: note from a friend of mine
Rick,
We all had some folks like that lady that took care of us when we were crawlin' around 60 or 70 years ago. Back in those days, foiks took care of things that needed attention, didn't matter what color you were.
And it's ok to be a geezer, theres many of us still around.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

RE: note from a friend of mine
Thank you for posting this story Rick. I was needing it. I still believe there is a majority of people out there who still have morals and ideals and the backbone of America is still there. Sometimes I get to worrying that they are gone and then I see a story like this..
Take care and thank you!

What you don't know....I will somewhat elaborate on! During the '40s era there were 18 Negro tenant houses on my grandfathers' property...all share-croppers working cotton, corn, cattle and tending to equipment in general. Grandfather donated a right-of-way across the property I'm living on today in exchange for gaining electrical power to several tenant houses whereas some were still burning coal-oil for their lighting and cooking. The houses were well kept...white-washed exteriors with metal roofing and clean as a pin on the interior. I remember being inside each and every one betwixt the ages of six and eighteen years old. I ate lunch in several of them on occasion because there was always good garden vegetables on the tables and fresh ham, eggs and pork. These people worked...and had PRIDE...not like the vast majority of their race that live in the cities today on welfare! Nothing gives me the RAzz more than to read about liberals claiming that poverty causes crime! Each and every child of the lady shown in the photo above are today productive people. Three of her children have Doctorates from Grambling University and teach at that university and four others have degrees in education and teach in local Monroe, Louisiana schools. Two children own their own business and there is one child that is slightly handicapped but that individual works also cleaning houses five days a week! ALL....are productive! This family, by todays standards basically grew up in abject poverty but their parents instilled into each of their children the incentive to work to better their state of living. During this era all the men hunted, fished, worked their gardens, tended to their chickens and other fowl they had! They had hogs they slaughtered in the fall of the year and their own smokehouses to preserve the meat. Grandfather kept each family with a good supply of beef from the cattle he raised as well!
Even though this family would not have to do so, each and every member, including some of their older grandchildren have let me know personally that they recall this era and appreciate the kindness shown to them by my grandparents! I am probably more proud of these people than any others that I'm acquainted with!!
