RE: rifle will not open
Sharps, right....Put it on half cock.
Tap rifle butt on floor firmly a couple of times and try to open.
Firing pin may have punched a primer and is stuck in the primer.

RE: rifle will not open
I finally got it open, it appears that the firing pin is sometimes sticking, must be a piece of trash or mechanical issue.
there is one screw in the block. Is there any danger in taking this screw out?

RE: rifle will not open
You should have an extra set of firing-pins and springs for your rifles. No way of knowing when something will have a problem. I also have an extra lever-spring, purchased from Shiloh. The firing-pin area is accessed by removing the lever/block. Slide the small plate, on the back of the block, out to the right-side of the block and the firing-pin/spring should drop out. Throughly clean that area and inspect the pin for a rough spot.

RE: rifle will not open
Call Lucinda.....They will replace it for free.
Order a spare lever spring while your at it.
So you had a 3 piece FP set up then, BTDT
