RE: Spotting scopes.
Chris.
I use the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 12-36x50 45 Degree Angled Spotting Scope Black w/ ED Glass 786351ED for a laydown scope, or sit down in my case I have to say the Bushnell has very sharp glass. Very bright.
This little scope is perfect for what I use it for. Works well for mirage and seeing the markers and it does not take up much room on the matt when I'm on the line. It does get dark on the top power setting but at around 18-20X where I use it, it's very bright and sharp.

RE: Spotting scopes.
Kurt-I have the scope your get'n in 80mm.
You will not be disappointed at all
They are heavy scopes, and you'll need a stout bipod for'em.
The m2's use a magnesium body.
I use a flip up scope lens cover on the eyepiece, and the factory cover for the objective.

RE: Spotting scopes.
Gary.
Got the scope today and all I can say is WOW!! it has my 27X 820 Kowa beat hands down!! That 100mm lens is sharp edge to edge and looking through the winter dirty kitchen window at my target at 140 yards I can see the .22 holes and read the NRA official target at all power levels 22 through 67 and it's a heavy dark overcast day
.

RE: Spotting scopes.
You'll love it even more when 'reading' mirage.
My 80mm is everything you say about your 100mm. Sharpest 'glass' I have ever own'd
Go put up a grid chart(1/4" grid)and you'll see just how good the Celestron glass is.
Glad your pleased-KNEW you would be

RE: Spotting scopes.
I played with it to see if it would be worth getting a camera attachment for some long range wildlife photo's. Just holding a Digital camera on the eyepiece it was a little hard holding center and focusing the scope and camera. The scope was sharp looking through it at 22X and 45X when I put the camera on the eyepiece but the camera was out of focus and it did not take a sharp picture. Maybe the T adapter will take care of this.
The orange .22 swinger was around 50 yards I use for off hand practice with the .22 and the paper target is 140 yards at 50X setting on the scope. The camera is fuzzy but you can see just how bright the glass is on a very dark heavy overcast day.
I will take it to the range tomorrow snow or not
I will say this, it needs a good tripod, it's a BIG SCOPE. Sure glad I have a CabinTree tripod to hold it.

RE: Spotting scopes.
I've used a first generation 80mm and it did well. I hear the newer models are even better and am waiting my turn to peek thru one.
All the best,
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

RE: Spotting scopes.
I took the M-2 to the range yesterday as well as the 821 Kowa. I had the range to myself so I shot a few holes in the black at 200 yards and set up both scopes. The sun was out but not on the target face yet. Shooting north.
The pistol range was open behind me so I took both scopes and set them up on the down range side of it this gives me 300 yards looking over the road and the 200 yard line. By the time I got the scopes set up the sun got on the target face. I really wanted to look with the shadow over the target but this gave me a comparison anyway. I could see the .45-70 holes with the 100mm Celsetron M-2 in the black but not using the Kowa 821-M. I could make out a hole in the white but not in the black with the Kowa.
The ED glass this Regale M-2 has sure is bright and sharp. I looked past the backstop into the trees, maybe 400 or so in the shadows and looked at the bark on a Elm tree and it was very sharp in detail. I think for a bird watcher or wild life this would make a great scope, but it's very large and at 10# or so not many would like walking through the bush carrying it. It did come with a canvas cover and a shoulder strap.
I will see if I can find a 100mm clear UV or orange filter lens to keep the dust and lube off the objective lens when I get the thread diameter from Celsetron.
The scope is a keeper.

RE: Spotting scopes.
Kurt-I've had no luck find'n a see-thru lens cover for my 80mm. Let me know if you find something.
On bright days. That Celestron 'grabs' so much light. You almost have to wear sunglasses to look through it.
Glad you like it
