RE: Hey Don
Kurt probably not going to go. Shot for a bit today neck didn't take it to well, and I couldn't get anything going on the 1k. 8 and 900 was great but whether it was the wind or the load I don't know, but that 1000 yd was a dream buster.

RE: Hey Don
Well no sense going if your hurting and need time getting the new rifle working.
Maybe we both will go next year.

RE: Hey Don
Kurt that'll be great if we can go next year and shoot together.
I'm going to load another batch of those Accurate bullets and take another handful of my Brooks postel. With Carol home tommorrow and spotting for me, maybe will get a better idea if either of those loads will work at the 1K line or not.
That accurate bullet shot really well at 8 and 9 but the 1 k gave me fits. There was a screwy wind that was coming from about 3:30 and at times 20 minutes was kicking dirt on the left side of the target and then with no real visible signs would drop and would be kicking dirt about 30 ft to the left. Elevation held fine.
The KAL's had some serious trouble past 800. Did get one to leave a perfect sideview profile of it's self dead center in the bull at 1000 tho.

RE: Hey Don
Jim I'm wondering about swatting those KAL's in the butt with some 2f instead of the 1.5 They shoot pretty good to 800 but past that it's dismal

RE: Hey Don
Hey Don, hope the neck issue goes away PDQ.
Sideways hits are a worst feeling than a miss.
Hope things get worked out so you can make Raton.

RE: Hey Don
If it were only 8 and 900 I could go kick some serious ass and take some names,,,, but they got that stupid 1K thing in there.....
Wish things would of worked for the midrange... that could of been exciting.

RE: Hey Don
Thar 1/19 twist just will not stabilize a bullet with a long radius nose like the Elliptical or money bullet type of nose past 600 yards even as hard as the .44-90 drives them at close to 1400 fps they really loose it past 600 yards.
I have the KAL elliptical the prolate and the money bullet GG and PP they just dont stay stable past 600 especially when the wind picks up.
I made up my mind to stay with a postell or the original profile PP for the 1/19 twist at 1.3" long it will reach the 1K in good shape.
My heavy .44 100 with a 1/17 twist the KAL and the prolate are doing good but I have not shot it past 200 yards but blowing out cases shooting 67 rounds 9 rounds put holes around a large 3" hole with no paper in it's center and I have to drive the brass into the chamber and use a rod to get fired cases extracted
