40 70 ss question

I've just had my original 74 mid range chamber restored. the reamer is the original .403 size.
I bought 40 70 sharps straight cases from Buffalo Arms, the new ones made to fit original chambers. Mine just don't quite make it all the way in. Running them in to a factory crimp die helps, but just not quite.
I have a full length sizing die on order from CH4D (nice guys).
Question. do any of you have a 40 70 SS original, and did you have to full length size the cases first?

Ken, It's always good to full length size the brass before the first use. It will save you possible problems when you want to work up your new loads at the range. I went through that several times with rounds not chambering. When you size them check to see if a empty case will chamber before you load them.

you're right Kurt. I bought a FL sizing die. .403 original size from CD4 and it works great. got the gun shooting. busted rocks at 100 and now to work up a target load.
The shells pop out, and with 68 grains of 1 1/2 Swiss and a 330 Brooks PP its sure is MALE! wow....nice old piece.....Ken
