43 spanish
i have found several very good deals on fairly pristine rollers in this 43 spanish chambering.

looking at the case diagram in my "cartridges of the world" i see that the differences between this spanish and the 44-77 sharps is very little.

question is...has anyone here played with the spanish and if so how does it compare to the 44-77 sharps? more to the point i guess is do you have trouble with finding cases or would i have to make em from other cases...[my book tells what other cases will work to do this].

thanks for the info.

Ted.......Cool

RE: 43 spanish
I also Load and shoot 43 spanish. Rolling Blocks and a Remington Lee. I do not have a 44/77 Sharps But I have dies for both. The only difference I am aware of is the bullet on the 43 spanish the diameter is .439 . On the sharps is .446 . The sharps in by collection the case is basically the same , but it has a rounded rim . I,v tried chambering it but with a different bullet diameter. Naturally it won't fit

RE: 43 spanish
Ted, I have taken some Norma basic brass that was already cut down to 2.3 ran it into the Lee 43 spanish size die, loaded it with bp and a patched bullet and fireformed to my shiloh 44-77. It actually works pretty fair and I believe as long as it stays with bp loads should last a good while.
Jamison is supposed to be getting the 43 spanish and 44-77 brass back into production. You can get brass from BACO that has been built from 348 winchester brass and there is always Bertram brass (altho that stuff is danged pricey)
Anyway if you get the rifle, and slug the bore, or do a chamber cast to get the throat deminsion , Accurate has a couple 3 good patched bullet designs that ought to work like a champ in that rifle. And Lee sells reloading dies for it so that's not a big problem

RE: 43 spanish
I only uses original Remington or spanish brass with berdan primers. I,m really not familiar with the new production Brass. I,v been using them for years. I can always get a lot of brass cheap @ gun shows . when I get a chance ,I,ll try some in My 44/77 dies .
