Hunting Time.............
...............is quickly approaching, what black powder powered wares are you men and ladies going to be using to put meat in the freezer with this year?

I'll start in a few weeks with a 58 cal muzzle loader with patched round ball looking for a monster Kansas buck deer.
Second week of October will be with my original 45-110 and 513gr paper patch over in Arkansas for doe deer.
The rest of the year will be with the 58 cal Hawken and differing Sharps rifles:
40-65, 394gr paper patch
44-77, 477gr paper patch
45-70, 530gr paper patch
45-120, 500gr Gov grease groove
50-90, 730 and 750gr grease groove

A lot of fun guns and many adventures await, hope you all are getting ready for a big year afield, good luck to all and be safe.

I'm leaning toward my 40-65 and a 390 grain RN paper patched bullet and my 40-70 Sharps straight with the same bullet. I also have a 365 grain greaser that I want to look at in the 40-70. Shoot straight, rdnck.

Going to try my 45-75 '76' Uberti Lever for deer if I have time to get the load finalized

Looking forward to hunting antelope in 2 weeks, didn't draw a buck tag got the 2 nd choice double doe tags. Probably use my 74 40-90 SBN or my 40-70 2.1 BN. It's a meat hunt and a 4-5 day camp out. Yeah I'm looking forward to it.

Good stuff men, I'm kicking the stall doors ready to get started, I now have a gopro camera and head mount, if I can figure this contraption correctly we'll hopefully have a movie to watch of some kills after season this year.
Will soon be rooting those never ending drainages out up on the Kansas landscape in search of a big white tail buck deer with my 58 cal muzzle loader, if there's one in there, i'll find him. Smile

RE: Hunting Time.............
I started off this year bowhunting elk with my longbow. No elk so no shot. Hunted deer and antelope on another chunk of land with no success. I did find five nice elk drops though in my travels. Took the oldest boy out yesterday to hunt an antelope doe. He whacked one with my 375 HH Model 70. First kill with that rifles. We were both were happy about that. We have three more antelope tags to fill, three deer tags and a couple elk tags as well. Hopefully there will be a bunch more hunting trips in the next six weeks before the snow gets to deep. Good luck to everyone.

Keep us posted Stephen, always enjoy reading about you and the boys expeditions.
