I was just testing up some loads last night to see what the minimum weight powder i could get in my 50-90 with a 1.5 inch long KAL bullet. Right at 90 grains of KIK 1.5.
Thst would be a thumper in a light gun.

What bullet are you using?
I have a KAL PP I set at 1.5 inch to start.
95 gr goex 1F and 4 .040 tablet wads to get the OAL i wanted. Might have to up the powder a touch after i see how these shoot.

It's quite a cavernous case isnt it ! Swallows powder with ease. I don't believe ..back in the day, they were ever loaded with less than a 100 gn charge..but then they weren't pushing bullets of 600-700+ grains then either. I've tried a few paper patch when I first got the rifle but they were in the 470 to 550 grain range. With the longer gg bullets I had good success with the Paul Jones Creedmoor ..which actually takes up some of that case volume. The best results with gg that I've had to date would be a reduced band 695 gn bullet I had made through Sage Outfitters when their mould contact was operating. It sits out a fair way into the lands and 114 x Swiss 1.5 is no challenge. I suspect 120 or so would be easy if I felt that way inclined... but I don't. At 12.5 lbs it is a handful for me with that load but certainly performs. It had no pistol grip initially...but it does now courtesy of a local gunsmith. I love the way it performs..but I find it is a tiring rifle to shoot in a match with that load when compared to the 40-45 calibers.. Keep us posted.

I have an adjustable KAL 50 TSHS .494 nose pour and a lyman 515390 .515 diameter, 390 grains GG, a .512 diameter 550 GG and a 550 gr paper patch mould. Kinda went overboard when I placed he order for the rifle. I had several fellow shooters offer some great deals to get me headed in the right direction. I now have dies, brass, wads and the 4 different moulds. I just need the rifle now!

If it's anything like my 1-22 twist 50-90, it won't shoot a bullet that weighs less than 650 grains with any kind of accuracy. Just a little tip to save you a lot of time and a bit of money.
There's a reason those guys sold you those light bullet molds. BTDT. Shoot straight, rdnck.

The one I really wanted was the KAL I got from gunner500, it will go up to 700+ grs. I will give a few of the grease grooves a try but most of my shooting will be PPB
