Need advice on buying a tang sight, 1874 Sharps.
Greetings,

I've been struggling this year with shooting mostly original 19th century rifles and carbines with original sights, and as a result I've turned in some absolutely abysmal scores.
It's time to go to better sights so that I can hopefully improve the situation.
This then begs the question: What tang sight to get, and presumably, what front sight to get?
My eyes are getting old, I need whatever help I can get equipment wise.
So far, I've made the decision to get a midrange tang sight, and have looked at C. Sharps, Lee Shaver, and MVA sights.
Honestly, so far I like the deLuxe Lee Shaver with the adjustable Hadley eyecup the best.
Yes, it's expensive, but it seems to have the maximum versatility.
I'm curious what people are using, and the reasons behind those decisions.
I appreciate any thoughts and advice that you are willing to share.
Thank you,

-Tom

Tom, I like the lee Shaver large diameter front globe sight and the Hoke rear . But my eyes are getting worse, so Ive been changing over to a scope, I have MVA and DZ and prefer the DZ because it works out for me.

I use a lot of the MVA Buffalo Soule and Baldwin front sights.

Thanks for the thoughtful replies, Hiwall & Don!
I've checked out both the Hoke and Baldwin websites... Definitely some additional fine sights to consider!

Good luck with the choice Tom, it's really hard to go wrong.
