Thin the herd?

I only shoot a couple rifles and have "quite a few".

Been thinking a lot about my BPCRs and what to do with them. No one in the family has a clue about them or what to do with them. None of my kids or grandkids are closer than 1000 miles. I'm starting to think I should sell them as I think my kids would get hosed disposing them. Not just the rifles but loading stuff and 500+ pieces of brass for each.

Actually some shotguns too. Same thing but mostly cheaper, easier to sell modern guns.

Anyone else in a situation like this?

I have a similar situation. Offspring are not at all into most of what I have.
They are likely to get "dumped" for cheap after I am gone.
Son has already said: "Sell all and leave me the money"
For their sake:
Best to "bite your lip" and start selling.
I have been working my way down from safe queens towards eventually down to the current shooters.

I been saying the same thing. I'm in my 80's but I still keep ordering more.

Lots of things you can do with some of the surplus.
Find a junior shooter or a young family that wants to get into the game but can't afford it, and give em one or at least sell them the stuff at a seriously discounted price.
If you know younger shooters that you really like and enjoy being around leave them one or more and all the stuff to go with it in your will.
Put them up for sale on one of the forums or send them to Rock Island Auctions.

When I retire I'm taking these with me to carry on the enjoyment on the other side I had with them on this side.

Don't have that big of a pile but it's pushing past 10. Mostly high walls, Browning, Winchester. I'll likely keep 3-4 that I actually shoot. Most have under 2000 rounds and all are in excellent condition. Then there's the brass....

Send the excess rifles to Rock Island auctions
And the brass and reloading dies to Gunrunner auctions

Problem with auction site is I would still have to ship to them. If I'm going to ship, I might as well sell individually. The brass is the easiest to ship. I might take a couple to the Q shoot. Always someone looking for a good BPCR that's ready to go.

The nice part about Rock Island they take care of all the ffl stuff and collecting the money.
Not sure how Gunrunner operates.
Taking stuff to the Quigley is likely a good route.

My problem is I don't sell my rifles unless I really don't like it. What you see above is my lifetime collection of the rifles I favor.
That Trapdoor, 99 savage and the 39 marlin have been with me since the early 60's and some not in the photo's.
I have past some on to my Son and Grand Daughters and they will have their pick later on. A couple of my Grand Daughters shoot as well as my Daughter. The two younger girls 12 and 14 will start making some silhouette matches with me at Friendship next season that is what the .38-50 Hepburn and the .40-65 are for as well as the .22 low wall.

The Rock Island Armory is just 45 minutes from me and I have looked at some of the fine things they sell there, including Sellers collection, By the way, he had a original unaltered .74 .45-3-1/4 Sharps on display at a collectors show at St. Charles IL. before the RI auction.
It is a good place to have things to sell.
