38-55 brass
A year ago I started to work with an original Highwall 38-55. I was lucky enough to get 50 pieces of brass at that time but have been unable to find any since. I have backorders with both Starline and Track of the Wolf.
Anyone out there know where I can get ahold of any of the longer length Starline?
I’ve found the 38-55 to be a fun rifle for the informal gong shoots in the area. My 50 rounds isn’t quite enough to get through a match.

Jim,

You might check with Huntington https://www.huntingtons.com/store/produc...276&page=1

I sent this to a friend that was looking for some .38-55 cases.

I just checked and here is some at powder Vally

Starline hasn't ran the 38-55 yet. But I saw someone the other day say that they were going to and then another person posted the email from Starline that said they didn't know when they would run it.
So just have to keep searching.
Every once in a while stuff shows up on Guns International..

Kurt,
Powder valley is out of stock. I’ll try Huntington’s in the morning as they aren’t taking on line orders at this time. Thanks for the info.

Arnie,
I need the long Starline. (2 .125”) chamber measures 2.1”. I’ve had 300 on backorder since March 2021!
I don’t believe any of the other companies make cases that are long enough.

This component shortage sure is getting to be annoying!

Jim, I'll try to find my 38-55 brass tomorrow, and will let you know what I can spare.

RE: 38-55 brass
I may have some, but it will likely be the first of next week before I get a chance to look.
I definitely have used brass, but it is likely I have some new Starline long. It has been a few years since I played with my 38-55 lever guns.

Are you going to the Lodi match next week? If so, I could bring it along if I have it.

RE: 38-55 brass
Thanks, Brian and Steve. If one of you has some you can spare it would be great! Some day the back orders will come in and I’ll have plenty. Right now fifty to one hundred would be nice but twenty five would get me over the hump.
Steve, I don’t think I’ll go to Lodi. I have a pretty bad hip and am scheduled to have I fixed early in June. I think I’ll shoot a gong match in Harris Minnesota instead. It’s a lot less rigorous than two days of long range. I’ll be watching the Lodi results with great interest. I hope to be in shape to shoot the fall match there.
Hold hard!

RE: 38-55 brass
Jim, I have two options for you:

Used brass, which when full length sized measures ~2.105 minimum

New unopened box of 250 Starline 2.125, which was purchased in 2014.

PM me if interested.
