Size cases or not?
To what extent do you size your fired cases? Neck, FL or none?

FL kinda covers it pretty well, but when you NK size, how much, to the base of the bullet?

And no sizin' has kinda got my interest lately, although I haven't tried it yet. This probally works best with greasers, but then what do I know?

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

RE: Size cases or not?
I use a FL die, and size just enough to hold the GG bullet with about .002" neck tension.
I also aneal the case mouth area.

RE: Size cases or not?
In the Shiloh and the Winchester, I don't size until about the 3rd or 4th reload, then I full length size and do it again..But those rifles are chambered tight enough a person can do that an have good neck tension on greasers. The other 45-70's not so much..
Shooting patched I full length size with my Lyman die and it sizes the cases just about right for the patched bullets I use.

RE: Size cases or not?
I neck size and then expand with a BACO .459 straight expander. Seat with a Meacham inline die.Shy

RE: Size cases or not?
jim,
the lazy side of me prefers just repriming and finger seating.
this also allows a bit more powder than fl sizing.
the pragmatic side of me demands that, being surrounded by ignorant morons who pick up ammo to look at uninvited, and tip the bullets out, i tend to size.
necks are expanded with a buffalo arms 2 diameter expander, allowing the bullet to start easily.
the smaller diameter of the expander is the same as bullet diameter, giving about 0.001" tension, even with pp bullets.
keep safe,
bruce.
