Quigley suggestion
Hipshot etal... I've been cogitating this for a bit, and have a suggestion for future matches. It might be sort of a nightmare to implement but...
It seems that every year there are folks that show up and shoot all or most of the week , but then don't bother to shoot the match. So I'm thinking those skinflint sob's are shooting up your targets and taking advantage of all the freebys without paying the modest 25$ feee.
I'm suggesting that there be someone available to take registration beginning on Monday or Tuesday, and unless folks have a paid registration, their guns get to stay cased until they pay that registration. They wouldn't have to enter the actual match, but they don't get to use the targets all week for nothing..

A lot of other matches state flat out , no practice until fee's are paid.
At the nationals after they check your gun you get a sticker to put on it, that let's the RO's know the gun has been qualified.
I suppose they could do the same at the Q, give the shooter a sticker for his gun, and maybe get like a dollar (different colored sticker) for each additional gun that a person might want to fool with prior to the match.

It only requires guts to do it. Some will get all huffy and mad and thankfully, leave. Your bread and butter shooters will pony up the gelt and shoot.

I really had no idea that there was folks actually doing this....seems to me that guys that made the trek would most likely enter/shoot the match?? If they are good enough shots to pollute the targets during practice, then they are good enough to compete.

The targets turn silver pretty fast during practice (and the match), but I thought that was because of 600 shooters and only 14 targets.

Don must have more insight on this... that I was not aware of.

We were camped out on the west edge. Was talking to a fellow shooter camped next to us just before the shooters meeting on sat morning. We both watched $100,000 RV pull out and head south before the shoot started. Jerri said he'd seen the guy who owned it do the same sh*t the last 3 years. Shoot all week and pull out just before the match. Guess that is why he has money and I don't.
