There was also a picture of John Haagen there along with his comments about those sights. I partnered with John at a silhouette match earlier this month, we both used scoped Highwalls in .40 caliber. Mine was chambered for .40/70 SS and his was cut a bit longer for the .40/72 case. I didn't see his rifle with the Hoke sight. Shoot sharp, Mike

And his .40/72 was rather new to him. A custom build using a C. Sharps Arms action and a long waiting time. He did right well with it too. Shoot sharp, Mike

Howdy Don and you other fellers.
I just order a Hoke Sight ,Kermit told me it would be 2 months
to get it.
I've lusted for a Hoke sight for years but what push me over the edge
was a new to me Shiloh ,it has an unmarked tang sight that's not a
Soule ,the sight looks like a quality sight but it takes 65min. to bring it up to 100yds.
As a side note I have known and shot with Kermit for 20years.
He used run the Shippensburg BPCR Silhouette match but now I only him see twice year at Mifflin County Rifle Club (gong match)

I've used Kermit's sights for years now! One great guy to deal with! No problem ever with any of the four sets I have!

About a week after I ordered the Hoke sight from Kermit he called and
told that he had a Mid range sight that would shoot a 1000 yds with
30 mins left over ,I said I would take it an he sent to me that week.
It was the week before the Mifflin County ,Gong match , the weather was so poor that week I couldn't get out to sight it in.
So Friday we went out to the Mifflin County Club an shot it in , no wind
it was pretty cloudy , everything went perfect .
Saturday Morning we got up the sky was breaking up an the sun came out it was beautiful .
At the range we shot a few sighters an it was warming up an the wind started to blow , My partner and I drew the 750yd target first , he shot a 5 an I shot 3.
well I want to tell you folks that wind blew left an right an straight up your back , if wait for the wind it would switch before you could pull the trigger.
I shot the lowest score I have ever shot 12 in 25 yrs. and My Buddy Jim shot a 23 tied for first but lost the shootoff ,
Kermit was there and I paid him for the sight.
Kermit Hoke had a Machine Shop about 4or5 years ago he sold it
but he kept on making his sights. He is getting pretty old now and has leg trouble ,he still like me keeps on shooting.

Dusty Ed, that wind can be a bugaboo, just ask the folks that shoot the bptr nationals at the Whittington...

Dusty Ed, I heard that the weather wasn't the nicest for that match. And it sure ain't nice out now. Kermit is a heck of a nice guy. I have been past his, or what used to be his shop a few times when I worked down in that area. It ain't no fun getting old and having parts go bad on you. Nice to know he is still up and going the best he can.
