RE: New lot of OE - Don McDowell - 08-29-2015 Well I'm really hoping you can figure out what the difference in the two lots are. I've got about enough of the old lots I've been shooting to load for one more match... RE: New lot of OE - Don McDowell - 08-29-2015 Kurt looking back thru some of my notes, OE 1.5 will run the nearly the same velocity when thrown at the same weight charge as 2, it's just bulkier and therefore gets compressed a good bit more. Might load some of that 1.5 at the same weight as your best with the old lot of 2 and see what shakes.. RE: New lot of OE - Kurt - 08-29-2015 Well it didn't care much for the 1.5 KIK But I will redo the best two and change plus and minus 1 grain. The lower right is the best group with the new lot of 2F OE. And the center right is the old load of 2F OE. I loaded 4 rounds this morning. Quite a difference. That 4 shot group was the norm I was getting with 82 gr of the old powder using the 505 gr KAL elliptical bullet. That group is 1-7/8 Vertical 7/8 horizontal. ![]()
RE: New lot of OE - Lumpy Grits - 08-30-2015 Kurt-I can't get the picture to expand, so I can not see what rifle you are using. FWIW: The two times I have had my Shiloh's open up in grouping with a prove'n accurate load, I found a broken firing pin tip. Just a thought is all-- Gary RE: New lot of OE - Kurt - 08-30-2015 Gary it's a 44-1/2 Stevens made by CPA in PA. ![]()
RE: New lot of OE - Lumpy Grits - 08-30-2015 THX! That is very nice look'n for sure ![]() Gary RE: New lot of OE - Kurt - 08-30-2015 Don I have gone through 6 cases of 2F OE since it came out not counting the 1.5 and 3F. The last batch of 3F has a different lot number. This is the third lot. O1, and O2 I did not see a change in performance this O5 is the first I have seen a change. One thing this last lot has that none of the others is, I have clumps in this lot. Some cans just a little powder flows out and the rest is clumped solid. Swiss has this going on with clumps. RE: New lot of OE - Lumpy Grits - 08-30-2015 FWIW: here's the lot #'s of the couple of bottles I have rec'd. 2F E2-04/14MA08B 1 1/2F E1-04/14Ma06B No clumps that I have seen. This is the first "E" that I have loaded. Gary RE: New lot of OE - Stephen Borud - 08-30-2015 How much does the OE cost per pound and where do you get it? Is it similar or better then KIK? Swiss? Goex Express? RE: New lot of OE - kokomokid - 08-30-2015 Kurt, Nice gun. I like the four shot standard load shot in the group, shows nothing wrong with gun or shooter. I will watch this thread to see what you do to fix the problem as I have some 3f swiss left that weighs very light and has not worked yet. Stephen, Check with powder inc. I usually get a pound or two of oldE when we order a case of Swiss. |
