Thanks for the post - I also am new to this - less than a year - and I am getting ready to shoot at local matches. I haven't started casting yet but will soon. I know it sounds like a lot of money to load and shoot BPCRs probably twice as expensive to shoot a BPCR load as my modern smokeless rifles. But I find I shoot two or three times as many rounds through my modern smokeless rifles when I take them out to the range, so it evens out. But money is only one part of it. I found that my money leaves my bank account in a continuous outflow anyway and all I can do is hopefully divert some of that flow into what I really like to do. Also there is the blood pressure thing - BPCR reloading and shooting lowers my blood pressure better than any bottle of pills. I took my Garand 30-06 out with the original peep sight on it and used it as my "control" rifle. I shot a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" group at 100 yards off the bench with match ammo. Then I shot my black powder 44-77 Shiloh 3 band military rifle with buckhorn and blade sights at 100 yards. I shot a 1 7/8" x 7/8" group. I guess my reloads are coming along. I just got a 45-70 Shiloh for silhouette shooting so I will be at a match soon. Good luck -

I'm late to the party Kevin but sure enjoyed your post. I'm behind you a step or so. Only got to shoot three here in OKC this season (my first time out too). I am only here in OKC intermittently during the summer but tried to time as many as I could. Still hoping to make the last one in November. You post was entertaining for capturing all there is to challenge and sometimes overwhelm or bamboozle a guy. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed it!
