KAL makes good moulds, but I've not seen anything of the taper bullets, that shoot as well as the straight sided bullets, and .444-446 diameter is better for accuracy in the 45's.

The OP has gotten good information on this thread and I agree with most of it. He didn't say if he wanted it for target, hunting, or combo. I have a BACO .444 MB PP mold that I use in one of my 45-110's and they perform very well. I don't have near the experience of Don, Kurt, or some of the other posters on here and I have heard that taper bullets generally don't shoot as well as straight sides. In my hunting 45-110 using the KAL .442 adjustable I shoot sub MOA consistently from cold barrel, off sticks in field conditions,with no wiping between shots, and that is with barrel sights. In this particular rifle using a similar load but my 45-110 Baco PP mold it will not shoot as accurately, close but not the same. I have heard there are some concerns about long distance with the tapered as well. I have not shot the KAL that much past 400 yards but when I did it seemed to be pretty accurate. So in my limited experience, in my hunting, barrel sighted 45-110 the KALs are more accurate than my straight sided .444 Baco PP which shoot very well in my other 45-110. Have taken two buffalo with them, one at 200 yards in heart with barrel sights.
The target was my 3 shot practice before I went on my last buffalo hunt. In morning before hunt, my wife was spotting for me as she was taking pictures. This was 45-110 using KAL .442's at 550 gr paper patch. The second shot which was a little low right which I called, my wife will verify. Still a sub MOA. All shot from cold barrel with no fouling, barrel sights on sticks. No allowance for windage which was strong. If you want more info on my method of practice for buffalo hunting, read the latest TASS article of Buffalo Hunt Prep. 400 yards tells you a lot of things.

The .442" 45 TGBS KAL ppb mold is straight or parallel sided thru the bearing section. The tapered part is the nose. bobw

Thanks Kurt, the rifle is a good shooter with these bullets. Bob got me on to these a few yrs back. I just wish I would have stocked up on Kik 1.5 when it was still around! Going to save what little I have for this gun and hunting. I have never shot this load with anything other than barrel sights , usually on sticks.

This is purely for target use. I ordered a .446 straight side adjustable mold.

Rick I have a .44 mould like it I bought used but it casts a bad bullet with heavy parting line fins. Someday I will drive the pins out and see if I can face it off so it closes better so it does not make fins. I mostly use it for cores for the swaging die I have for the .45. The swage die is a straight shanked bullet and it shoots very good. Using the bad .44 tapered and run it through the swage die makes it easy to reform it.
The KAL mould would cast better if Rick would use a sprue plate with a smaller hole. That mould is vented very good and casts better running it cool so you don't get vent hairs. I have a KAL .434" elliptical I use in the .44-75 Ballard and the .44-100 Rem and I have not found a bullet that shoots better then that, but I had Rick make a special sprue plate for me with a small .100" hole and it does a fine job.
