Gary I like it better then the Brooks original. It's almost like the NEI but the NEI has a lesser bore riding portion that goes right to the front driving band and even that is not like the Ideal that did not have the front driving band. The radius went right to the groove.
Even the 132 in the link I sent for you that postell is a picture of what Lyman is now making and not of a original Ideal.

Gary, Have a look at this one... it is as close as I've found. Been working to scale it down to 475gr and remain as true to the original as possible less a few things I wanted. I'm not done yet so don't fault me where I've failed so far. First one is from Tom Meyers TNT site. Second one is mine.

The original postel and the 311284 are both great shooting bullets and they both have the nose go into the groove,but Ideal called it a scraper groove not a grease groove.

It's very interesting to see all the 'adjustments' done to this bullet over the decades, and still it's called a Postel.

Gary the RCBS 82084 bullet is a good original postell type nose also, but they should of used 4 lube grooves instead of 3. With just those 3 grooves it's not a particularly dependable bullet past 800 from a 45-70, the 90 however might kick it fast enough to shoot 1000 yds and over come the drag from those 3 big grooves.
