It's cold up here and by weekend it will be down in the mid 20's daytime. Alma will be a cold match.I have .44's with 16, 17 and 19 twists and I like all three twists. I used the 19 twist at the MT 1000 and the Q and Lodi using a 500 grain original profile bullet, almost a round nose and placed good at the Q and MT. 1000 using that heavy bullet in the 19 ROT.
I don't understand why the .44, especially the .434 diameter PP for matches and why the .44 fell out of favor for the .45. I guess it's like the .308 to the .22 calibers, a military thing of greater supply. I feel the match shooters are missing the .44 potential not using it. Kelly O-Roose used the .44-70 Maynard and did really well using it and a few others that use the .44's are tough to beat.
I have a .44-100 2.6 Remington straight rifle that is Tollofson weight that just shoots and hits what ever you lay the sights on but to drag it around even in a gun cart the cart tips over backwards LOL.

Well the 44 Maynard ain't a virgin any more. Shot it today with open sights and got a 24,3 chickens. Took sights off and put 28 inch Mva scope on it for tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Way to go Bill!!! the 44 Maynard was Kelly O Roos's caliber of choice also and he did well shooting it.
