RE: Good/Bad news - Don McDowell - 04-30-2013 And I'll go so far as to say you could do worse things than just mounting up a vernier on that little 44 and taking a batch of ammo loaded with that bullet to Lodi.. RE: Good/Bad news - Kurt - 04-30-2013 No-No-No that little .44 will never sport a tang sight, it works just fine as is

Then I'ld load some of the 100 with that prolate bullet at around 1250 fps, if that doesnt' keep that thing stable to 1000 yds, I'ld turn it into a paper weight, or let those blocks keep your pedersoli sight company in the weeds.... That bullet has given you a lot of fits. Well there it is, my take on the deal,, and probably not worth the price you paid for it.![]() ![]()
RE: Good/Bad news - Kurt - 05-01-2013 To keep the Olde Eynesford at 1250 fps I would have to have a 3/4" wad stack in that case ![]() I cast a bunch of the Sharps bullets yesterday 1 3/8" long flat base like they used for the creedmoor and some 1.425". They used a 550 gr at 1-13/32" long in the .44-100 bn. If they used that 550 gr I have some doubts that they used the slow 1/19 1/20 ROT in the .44-100BN because I get oblong holes at 200 yards shooting that bullet using the 1/19 Rough rider. But your right about that prolate. It's a fine shooter inside the pig line but @ 800 when the winds get around 10 mph the groups open up. Looks like Lodi will be another load development match
RE: Good/Bad news - Don McDowell - 05-01-2013 Well let it out to 13-1325 then... Every match is a load development match for me.

RE: Good/Bad news - Kurt - 05-01-2013 I will get that .44-100 combination worked out just like I did with the .44-90bn. Sure would like to have your back yard!!
RE: Good/Bad news - Don McDowell - 05-01-2013 Well you can't have it, but you can dang sure borrow it anytime you want. ![]() [img] [/img]
RE: Good/Bad news - Lumpy Grits - 05-01-2013 And with that. Don 'hangs' the 'carrot-on-a-stick', for ALL to see. ![]() Gary |
