A friend tells me that the WSU forum will be back. Apparently some snafu with the domain name or the owner of the server or something. I understand all files were lost, so it will be starting over. Steve Garbe isn't giving up.
Are you using teflon patched in your RB guns? I know less than zero about that material and methods.

Yes, teflon patch for the RB and some thin freezer like paper for the cross paper patch on the slug guns. The teflon (as I understand) is a food grade stuff sprayed onto one side of some burlap like material. I dont make it myself. I generally use .015". It is pretty idiot proof, just load as you normally would (teflon out to contact barrel.) It seems to hold together quite well. I did try it in a much rougher pistol barrel once and it got torn up a bit but in my bench rifles (quite smooth) it loads well and holds together. For the 62. I started with loads at around 100 grains and went up to around 300 grains, best shooting was around 140 grains. (YMMV, this is a sealed ignition bench rifle). I do swab between shots, I drop powder with a drop tube, load with a false muzzle on most guns and all require a short starter and mallet as I run a tight patch/ball combo.

Just came over from another forum that finds underhammers and target rifles as not traditional enough.
I do shoot a flinter and own several percussion side locks my real passion is target rifles. I just built a Light Bench undehammer and I'm looking to build a Heavy Bench rifle both round ball. One of these days I want to get into the slug gun field I feel that is the ultimate muzzleloading target rifle.

Thanks for your replys guys I don't have much in the way of a big gun. The biggest that I have is the new Light Bench rifle and it's still in the work on finish stage weights #13 12 oz. I put a Spidematic 50 cal 1 1/8 barrel on a Pete Allen underhammmer. Probably don't have much more that 200 to 300 rounds through it yet but it's a shooter.
I would like to build a heavy bench rifle and then on the far horizon would be a slug gun.

that is fine, one of my favorite guns (well one of 10-20 that are my favorites!) is a light gun built by Fred Sinclair. In line action using standard #10 cap. 50 caliber, jewell trigger, very accurate, it hangs with my big guns in a much lighter package. It was my first ML rifle and the rifle that got me into this addiction
