KIK 1.5 delivers decent velocity and excellent accuracy, at all the distances between 200 and 800 yds with most of the bullets I've shot.
Really haven't noticed any problems at the 300 yds/meter line either using Olde Eynsford.

That is Very good to know, I am looking forward to getting this thing put together and sending rounds down range.
I do have another question to ask and I just don't know who to address it to so I guess I will just toss it out and see what comes back. When people mention the angle on throating reamers, is the angle given as the angle on just one side or is it an included angle? Would a 5 degree reamer be 5 degrees per side and a 10 degree included angle, or would it be 2 1/2 degrees per side and a 5 degree included angle?

Sorry to dig up an old thread but i have some questions for you Don. What options did you go for on your #3 i.e. which barrel profile and leagth? Been looking hard at one and am leaning towards a heavy half of 32" with a military butt.

This one is a heavy 30 inch, and it has the 7* leed 44-77 chamber. If I did one again, I'ld just go with either a 30 or 32 inch standard barrel. I do like the military butt for everything, except shooting prone.

Here you go Sam. Look at the throat on my reamer you will see the 1.5 degree on one side and a 3 degree coming from the chamber neck wall to the top of the 1.5 degree lead on the lands.
This is as close to the original Ballard chamber as I can get it.

The 7 degree starts at the case neck chamber wall and drops down. It does not have the compound lead 7/1.5 degree.

I can see your point on prone with that butt Don. I am looking at a good general purpose set up as I dont see me getting a stable full of Sharps as much as I would like to. What does yours weigh all up with the heavy barrel?
Kurt that is a snazzy chamber. How does it shoot for you?

Jeremy, the problem shooting prone with that military butt really isn't the butt plate, it's the drop in the stock, you really have to stretch your neck to get a good sight picture from prone, and it makes keeping a solid cheek well a bit of a problem , especially at long range.
My 30 in heavy barreled Shiloh's both weigh in right at 12 lbs.

JR the first barrel was a bust. Didn't shoot for Saur green apples 
Getting a new barrel mounted on the second CPA. Time will tell.

Don that is what I was thinking just didnt articulate it well. I have a few different mil surp rifles and the dropping comb on them sucks for prone for the same reasons you mention. Man those barrels get heavy but the upside is they help tame the recoil I imagine a 32 heavy half would weight about the same.
