this is a slow deal for me all though I am getting plenty of trigger time, no good results, going back to my "base" load and use Win and Fed primers, this is frustrating for a new shooter

went to 56 grains, then to 57 grains and it did not show me anything, going to see what Win and Fed primers will do, I need to be at 300 yards by this fall so I can hang with the locals shooting modern rifles with scopes, its a neighborhood "whiskey" bet, I hate to loose and really enjoy a good 3 fingered drink

Well tweaking is tweaking ,let's go back to basics. My 40 has shown me with greasers that the faster I want to go the harder the alloy I need or my groups start to open. What alloy are you using have you tried a harder one or increased tin content any? just asking I have not seen it addressed here. bobw

using certified 30-1, I had some 20-1 that I sent down the barrel earlier and I could not see nor measure any big difference.
I sometimes am wondering if it could be my 62 year old eyes or my trigger finger. I am considered one of the very best shooters in my area and can handle a ton of pressure from other shooters

EYES, yup,, on that ride now and I'm 61.
When was the last time you had'em ck'd?
Also, how are you compressing your powder?
What are you using to wet your patches with?
Do you dry the chamber before firing the next shot?

my long range vision is great
compressing with compression die from BA
running 2 damp patches with delrin rod down barrel, using some stuff I purchased from Steve Rhodes[sp]
drying chamber with wool 28 gauge thingy
going to go back to the base load, change primers and leave out copypaper wad

I have had great luck using wads made from coffee filter paper.
Burns leaving no ash.
Long distance vision is nice. The rifle's sight's aren't "long distance"
Why not get your eyes checked
