RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - .22-5-40 - 08-06-2012 Very interesting ideas! Can I ask a question? I drilled my buff targets 3/16 in two places near top of back..going to use hooks & light chain for hanging..if there a downside to this? Could also go with wire cables. RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Dave Roelle - 08-07-2012 The only thought i had was that the target above the stand would be a cleaner visual in the sights Simply an opinion Dave RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - .22-5-40 - 08-09-2012 Hello, Dave, I didn't think of that..it makes sense. RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Dave Roelle - 08-09-2012 Since i haven't gotten around to building one yet it's only conjecture-------seems right -----------with a bit of luck i'll have something cobbled up this weekend. I have a hanging "gong" for the larger calibers thats portable and pretty easy to work with--the frame however is much larger realtive to the "gong" and so the gong appears simply suspended and you really don't notice the frame------its also typically used at longer ranges so frame materials size relative to target size is relatively small Hope to have some testing going on pretty soon Dave RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Brownie Nash - 08-09-2012 This is a different type of stand that works for me. Simple to build. The buffalo here is 12" X 8" used at 150 yds. for 22 LR. We use this type of stand out to 600 yds holding a buffalo that is 6' X 3.5' See Attachment (I hope) RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Hiwall55 - 08-09-2012 Last weekend we had our Extreme .22 buffalo shoot . I cut targets out of a sheet of 1/4 inch steel at the same size as NRA .22 Bpcr plus 10 Buffalo WE shoot open, peep and scope classes at 50 yds. offhand chicken,75 yds. sitting unsupported pigs,100yds. sitting sticks at turkeys,.rams off the bench,135 yds. and buffalos at 150 yds. offhand. I use stands made out of 1/4x2 flat steel on 2x6 wood boards. a lot of fun and a well attended match RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - .22-5-40 - 08-09-2012 Hello, Brownie Nash. When I first saw your buffalo..I got a start..except for the tail cut-out..it looks like some of mine! I like your stand..very simple. Since I have two 3/16" holes up near top of back on mine, a couple of hooks & light chain or cabel would work? Good ideas guys! RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Dave Roelle - 08-09-2012 Brownie---------------thats just about perfect------simple-----economical---------minimal stand interferance with the target-----------and the Buf should dance on that swinger really well Thanks for posting the pics ![]() Dave RE: Rimfire Bufffalo Silhouette - Brownie Nash - 08-09-2012 Guys As I said we have them mounted that way out to 600 yds. The Buff is 6' X 3.5'. We bury the stand about 6" or so and that way any low misses do not hit stand. On the large Buff I use a worn out grader blade with the sharp side toward the Buff . That way a low miss has nothing to hit but the sharp edge. Hardly any maintance. Regards Brownie |
