Some of those critters most likely still have some small dents on them I put on when they where still at Ackley Iowa.
They where fun shoots but hard on the collarbone shooting the .50 uphill and laying in cow piles LOL.

There are some pretty good dents in some of those buffalo,
At the end of one of the shoots last year there was a hole through one, don't know if someone had a jacketed bullet that snuck into their box?
I have often wondered what your big 50 would do to those poor little buffalo!

Congratulations on a nice antelope. 380 yards is a fine shot, period. Closer is better, but we use our rifles to reach out when getting closer is impractical or not an option. I have no intention of crawling on my belly and skinning up my rifle and getting my knees and elbows full of cactus to get fifty or a hundred yards closer if I can reach an animal and make a killing shot from where I am. My hat is off to a man who goes afield and has learned to use his equipment to augment his skills and capabilities. That 380 yard antelope may even taste better than one shot closer--it's all a matter of perspective. Shoot straight, rdnck.

The rdnck knows of what he speaks. That western cactus is something to be avoided, but sometimes not when hunting. I crawled about 25-30 yds, to get into shooting position. No great distance when using the .270 rifle and a 130 gr. bullet the distance ending 380 yds.. My right knee has a couple of stickers in it that need pulling out!
A big thank you goes to both our hosts, as Carol makes the greatest coffee in those parts.
All in all, a fine few days spent with friends enjoying the vast hunting country of Wyoming. Pics to come later.
