I'm also of the opinion when shooting greasers in the 40-65 there is no benefit gained when going from .030 to .060 wads.

I cant say what a .40-65 does with greasers I haven't shot a greaser in any of my rifles since I shot Alliance in the new .44-90bn and the .50 at the Q in 09. The rifles I have been shooting the chamber will not except a GG bullet.
But Don I do see a change in .030" compression with the same weight powder load. The .40-65 is a new thing for me even that I had one since 2000? in a Browning BPCR I just haven't shot it much. I bought a .40-65 and a .45-70 just a couple months apart but I just did not care for them I just sooner shot the Sharps. So the .40 is a new game for me, but I will say this, it is a very easy caliber to get shooting well and my rifle seems to shoot most any load well from 56 grs to 61 with out much change in the group size. I cant get more then 62 grs in my cases unless I load with out lube or breach seat them with just a .023" wad holding the powder in.
The 56 gr load of 2F OE is very accurate and it has not failed to lay a ram down yet from what little I have shot it yet.

In the CSA highwall and the CPA both shot 62 gr of OE 2 f with greasers very well. When going to patched I went to 64 grs. same compression only added the napa wad and the dry lubed felt wad. Works very well.
I did get a big lesson with the 40-90 at Byers. I had been shooting brand new cases with 90 gr of OE 1f and the patched bullet. When I loaded for Byers, I took the 54 cases I had fired at Alliance and loaded them the same. Big mistake, those fire formed cases have less taper and the shoulder moved just a tad. Need to add probably 3-5 gr. more powder.

I ran into that the other day with two new unfired cases with the same load in a 5 shot group. Three shots in cases fired that fit the chamber unsized had the powder stack lower then the unfired cases those three where in a cloverleaf all three touching and two side by side a little over a inch lower. More compression higher velocity?? I see higher velocity usually hitting lower at the distances I have to shoot in.
