wash them with tide , add bleach , to the rinse cycle and have your wife iron them after hanging on the line for a day in the sunshine
as long as they are clean the color doesnt matter much ,although if they are cleaner it is easier to see fouling on the patch,so I use my old patches for starting and finish with a new clean one, then I know,

pre soak them in oxyclean, and they come out fairly good. But I'm not totally convinced it's worth the effort..

My Wife uses a fine linen laundry bag. It has a small 1/4" mesh with Velcro to hold them shut. She uses Oxyclean . She also throws the bags in the dryer.

Forgot to say, I pre soak them in a bucket first and give them a second rinse till most of the crud is gone before I let her wash them.
They do a lot better job removing the moisture from the bore then a new patch.

I put them in a plastic tub with a lid with a squirt of dawn and a shot of bleach, attach the lid and shakemup several time over a day or so rinse and repeat if necessary ,if clean enough rinse and spread out to dry

Walmart sells those zippered mesh bags for $1 and change for washing patches. Don't put them in a load of regular laundry though. When they are done , I pull them out of the bag and use the iron on them over a towel to dry and flatten them. It's a job best suited for a rainy day when you can't do anything else. A lot of work ?yup. I think a washed patch sure seems to clean the barrel really well. It doubles your patch life and cuts patch expense. Try it and if you don't like it don't do it again. bobw

I just had a thought. Instead of sticking them in the wash ( my wife would look poorly on that ), I'll bet they'd clean up well in a Thumblers Tumbler full of soapy water.

No problem in the washer or dryer except for the lint in the dryer.
When you pre rinse then in a bucket most of the fouling is not going into the washer, even if it does it's not any worse then what my work clothing that gets thrown in the washer.
The wife will run an empty load for a few minutes and all is well.

That tumbler idea sounds good----------next match is saturday so i'll give that a try !!!!!!!!!!
I squeezed em out damp and spread em out on a piece of screen in the workshop----they come out pretty flat the next day
