Hey Don, I just found this in the silhouette manual:
Target steel thickness is a very large factor in the weight of the targets.
Fullsize High Power Rifle targets should be made of steel which is of the
type specified in the NRA Silhouette Handbook, and should be 1/2” thick
for chickens and pigs; and 3/8” thick for turkeys and rams.
Now we know, it's not quite as thick as I had thought. Hear anything back from Schlagels?

No I didn't get anything out of Schlagels yesterday. From what I can gather from reading, T1 ought to be alright so long as nobody gets wound up on em with highpower and jacketed bullets...
There is a place on road 128A in your country that does have a plasma cutter and doing all manner of specialty stuff..

I had a high power T-1 turkey swinger that I shot at a lot and in time I noticed spider webs showing up and one morning I shot it with the .50-2.5 and the center popped out. The broken edges looked like they crystalize.
I have a round swinger I used the 3/8 diamond floor deck plate and that is still looking good.

I forgot that I have a set of swingers that I bought to use as a pattern. I think if we had the metal, we can trace around them and cut them out with a plasma torch, or even a regular torch and not have to pay some place to use their computerized machine. Now to figure out what kind and how much steel to get. I am still thinking about using mild steel. Anybody have any thoughts?

Looked to me like if a person had good patterns, and a torch, a set of 5 each could be done for about 1500? But it would depend on the price a person could get on the steel. Probably best to take a flatbed trailer to Denver?

I agree. There is a wholesale place in Greeley that seems to be about the cheapest around to get the steel. I am just not sure what kind to get...

You might ask them what to get. Tell them what you're thinking about building out of it.
Buck Baker used to get his steel from someplace down on 6th in Denver. Can't remember the name of the place tho, but they had about anything and everything metal a fella could want.

Cody Schlagel's says about 2200 for a set of 10 each from A36 plate. Add about 15% for T1.
But I forgot about the feet....

That seems pretty fair compared to what I have been finding. I can weld the feet on as well as even provide the feet if necessary. Now to find 2200 bucks.....
