RE: our 4th - Don McDowell - 07-03-2015

We're having most of the neighbors over, going to do some shooting in the morning, then have a good dinner, and then head down to Guernsey for the gunshow.

RE: our 4th - Mike - 07-04-2015

Our 4th will be quiet, and we hope, cooler. The hottest thing about my day should be my lead pot and the .44 Brooks mold. But we will probably gather with our daughters for a quiet dinner while we hope those who must use fireworks don't set our woods on fire. Of course, this will all be done with great respect to our country's fathers. Here's wishing everyone a very happy 4th of July!! Shoot sharp, Mike

Happy fourth of July my American friends!

RE: our 4th - Don McDowell - 07-04-2015

Our little get together this morning was a rousing success. We shot a buffalo match with pistols. Then went into some 22 stuff, but the grand hit of the day came when I drug out the #3.
That ol 44 with it's ladder sights and paper patch bullets , gave everybody that shot it a hit on the second shot fired and kept on giving for their allotted 5 rounds. Couple of the folks went home trying to calculate how to come up with the money to get themselves one.
The 22 sillouettes were a smashing success, and we have generated a potential group of new shooters.
All in all a lot of fun and lots of smiles this morning. Now I got guns and cases to clean...

Hey Ranch, That sounds like some doin's. The hottest thing on this end, like I expected, was my lead pot. That got heated up three times, making bullets for the .44/77, .44/40, and the .50/90. Some ammo got loaded too. Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: our 4th - Don McDowell - 07-04-2015

It got danged near hot enough to melt lead here. Was 102 when we got thru with dinner..

RE: our 4th - Mike - 07-04-2015

Hey Ranch, We're only 6 degrees below you, probably with higher humidity which always helps. My bullet casting was done outside much earlier today while it was still cool. Don't know about your nights but ours drop back into the 50s. And did you get any mail? Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: our 4th - Kurt - 07-04-2015

Well Don I'm glad I'm home. only 78 here today 76 yesterday Smile but it's starting to warm up a couple degrees every day.
Smile those .44's are tough to beat that's for sure.
I put the scope on my .44-77 Hartford to see what it will really do, but I been busy getting the place back together since I got home. With the 11" of rain we got in the three weeks I was gone you could feed one of your cows for a year. Also I have spend three days cleaning brass and still only 1/2 done with that job.

Kurt

Mike it's been raining in the middle of the night the last several days, so the humidity is up over 50%, but the nights do cool off down to the mid 50's. No mail yet.

Kurt weather said it was only 84 or some such in Laramie, so that would of been about 10 cooler up in the mtns, but they've been getting afternoon thunderstorms.
Are you coming back in August for the Byers target rifle matches?
