Ok treasure hunters, I'm getting the wants for a good metal detector.

Don,

It depends on what you want to use it for. It makes a difference. If you just want one that goes beep when you find a object and don't worry about ground balancing discriminated between ferrous and none ferrous metals or use it in water then any of the low end on the market will work.

I dont know what is out there anymore Don. I got 3000 about 4-5 years ago and haven't followed their new updates.
I dug a hole about 2-1/2 feet deep and found a old .44 case LOL
Found a nice 1/2 oz nugget and small stuff.
The nuggets are far and few, but you will pick up fine in Quartz.
The old gold bugs are good as well as Fishers. Do a Google for metal detectors and study up on them. But look for one with good ground rejection and discrimination. Then there are the different coils.

I like metal detectors and have some opinions. Let's visit before you buy one.

Okdoky can do that. We're thinking maybe to come down to the range next Friday evening , so we can be there bright and early all bushy tailed and ready..

Great!! I will try to remember my detector and show you what I know. Could be fun, we can go treasure hunting together sometime.
