Carolyn and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We're already hard at work on the plans for 2016. I'm happy to report that the dates for our matches at Ridgway have been reserved, and we have some exciting news.

Yes, you read that right. In conversations with the competitive shooting division of the NRA, we decided that it would be a good idea to hold Western Nationals at Raton and Eastern Nationals at Ridgway. That creates the possibility of an additional match in 2017 and beyond, the East Meets West Championship. Stay tuned for details.

BPCR Eastern Nationals Update
August 2016
First of all, a big thanks to Jim Kidwell, Steve Rhoads, and all the others who made the 2016 Western Nationals such a resounding success!
The 2016 Eastern BPCR Silhouette Nationals will take place at the Ridgway Rifle Club in Ridgway PA. Dates are Thursday September 22nd through Sunday the 25th. The iron sights competition will be held Thursday-Friday, followed by the scope competition Saturday-Sunday. Each day will be 60 shots for score, so bring plenty of ammo.
About the Match
To answer some questions we've been getting, there will be 3 relays. Shooters/spotters will sign up in squads of 2 or 3, and banks and animals will be assigned by drawing names. With the expanded number of positions and 10 banks of animals, we expect that it will be feasible for people to "dig in" and not have to schlep equipment to and from the line. There are a limited number of spots for shooting from a seated position, so please let me know in advance if you need one.
Carolyn and I are going to keep registration open at least until the end of August. We're still waiting to hear from some folks who wish to attend. We could also still use some help in the form of score keepers, line officers, and folks to help Carolyn with post-match administrivia.
Fun Stuff
Trophies and medals have arrived! We have trophies for First, Second and Third place in Iron Sights, Scope Sights and Iron Man. We also have Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for all classes. (Scope is still considered a single class.)
Some folks are only shooting Irons or Scope, so we've decided to have a BBQ / Shindig on Friday night. That will allow all the competitors and families to get together for an evening of camaraderie and swapping excuses. Food and drink will be provided by the club.
Friday night we'll award trophies and medals for Iron Sights and also hold a prize drawing for the loot that was so generously donated by our sponsors. That way everyone will have a chance to go home with something good.
The weather should be beautiful in late September, typically warm days in the 70's with cool nights. The trees will be turning and adding their color to the beauty of the area. There's always the chance of fog in the morning, but in five years we've never seen it fail to burn off in time for 8AM practice.
We're excited about the Eastern Nationals. It should be fun and exciting and, we hope, the start of something good!

I'd like to make an up-date to the information I posted.
This September there will be classes for scope as well as Iron sights.
The classes will be standard NRA classes, Master, AAA, AA, A and B.
We'll be awarding trophies to the top 3 High Aggregate shooters in Iron, Scope and Iron man.
We'll be awarding Gold. Silver and Bronze medals to the top 3 shooters in each class, for both for Iron sights and Scope.
It's something that folks have been talking about, why scope shooters are lumped into one class so to speak.
We have the medals so I figured why not "run it up the flagpole and see who salutes"
All the medals will be engraved as well.
Also, match fee's will not be raised because 07/31/16 has passed.
I feel a bit neglectful about having not communicated information about this match sooner and more often.
We all have responsibilities and passions.
BPCR Silhouette is a passion of mine.
But sometimes responsibilities take a precedent, this year for me, they did.
