Fire Forming brass - Chaz - 04-27-2016
I have some Starline 45-2.6 brass that I formed for a 40-90BN. I did this around ten years ago and have since sold the rifle. My question is can I pull the bullets out and fire the brass with the wad and powder in my 45-2.6 without damaging the chamber? Also will it bring it back to the 45-2.6 neck again?

You might try one with a charge of smokeless, fill the case with corn meal and then plug the neck with paraffin wax. Fire it and see what happens, you might get enough expansion to put it back to shape.
I would be worried tho about the crease line of the shoulder being weakened and letting the case separate there at some point.

I fireform 30/40 Krag to get 38/50 and 40/60 Maynard. The way I do it is 9 grains bullseye, fill up with cream of wheat , no wad and load and shoot straight up. I did 400 cases and didn't lose a one.

Thanks Highwall, I have these still loaded, I was curious if I pull the bullets can I just fire the powder and wad in my 45-100? Or do i need to dump the powder? They have been loaded for ten years now.

Just pull the bullet push the case mouth thru a block of paraffin wax, and fire away. You'll have some barrel cleaning to do, but they should blow out straight in fine fashion.

I just went through this with my new CPA .45-90. I junked the .44-75 barrel and took all the brass I had for it and cut it down to fit the .45-90 and blew out the cases to .45. Sure got rid of all the old powder that has been taking up room for a while.
also the old bullets not being used. Now to start loading for the 2016 season. Trying to be a one gun/load man this year
