Gary RE: The American Sharps Shooters 2016-6 - Mike - 12-08-2016 Thank you, Lumpy. I'll be sure that Ash receives your compliment about his story. It's a good one. And I hope we can somehow help the folks who are preserving the Adobe Walls site. Shoot sharp, Mike RE: The American Sharps Shooters 2016-6 - bruce moulds - 12-11-2016 interesting article on bore pigs. particularly in light of don's article about the baco bore wipes recently. I have and use both, and recommend both. neither is the perfect answer, and both are good in different ways. neither can be guaranteed to remove all the fouling, the baco removing more than the pigs. the pigs are easier to push. both need 2 dry patches for a really consistent barrel condition. it remains to be seen how well the baco felts clean up, and how many wipes they offer. keep safe, bruce. RE: The American Sharps Shooters 2016-6 - Lumpy Grits - 12-11-2016 What I would like to know about on the bore-pigs. What are the 3 discs made of? They look like scotchbrite. ![]() G. What are the 3 discs made of? They look like scotchbrite. Lumpy, In the description of the "pigs" by the maker, those discs are simply identified as a "3M" product. A more complete description will have to come from Rick at The 310 Shop. They might be scotchbrite and "scotch" is a 3M trade name, isn't it? I wouldn't want to shoot such a product through the barrel but just pushing it seems to be fine. Shoot sharp, Mike RE: The American Sharps Shooters 2016-6 - Mike - 12-12-2016 Dusty, Our Old West Centerfire matches are held at the Capitol City Rifle & Pistol Club out of Littlerock, Washington. If you would be able to join us, I'll send you the schedule and announcements. Our next OWC match should be held in February and it will be with targets posted at 50 & 100 yards. Is there a chance you might come? RE: The American Sharps Shooters 2016-6 - bruce moulds - 12-12-2016 bore pigs have been down my barrels thousands of times with no ill effects. we must remember that wool (read felt) is known to be very abrasive to steel, which is why most cleaning patches are of cotton. we just need to be wary of the urban myth. keep safe, bruce. |
