First - Gussy - 02-15-2017 Winter let up a little and I went to an old homestead, around 1900, to metal detect. I find empties all the time. Today was another first, a 40-60. I haven't cleaned it up yet to see the full head stamp. RE: First - Don McDowell - 02-15-2017 When you get it cleaned up, show us a picture of it. RE: First - Gussy - 02-15-2017 Cleaned it up. Case mouth is pretty shot but the head stamp is very good. Buddy found a 25-35 last year but not much left of it.
RE: First - Don McDowell - 02-15-2017 Sweet.
RE: First - Gussy - 02-15-2017 My mistake, a 25-36. I thought it was an odd duck!!
RE: First - Don McDowell - 02-15-2017 So there was a Marlin shooter in them that hills.. RE: First - Rowdy Rick - 02-16-2017 Cool find Gussy! Rick RE: First - Semtav - 02-16-2017 I got a detector last spring. Mostly looking for old coins, but so far I found a loaded 25-20, and a 25-35, 30-30, 32 special and 38-56 case. Plus a couple old shotgun headstamps and a partial bar of lead in the gun department. RE: First - Gussy - 02-16-2017 This most of what I found last year. Didn't keep a lot of 22 or pistol cases, just dropped them in the brass bucket for recycle. Had at least a couple buckets of pull tabs and cans, 2-3 buckets of scrap iron. No old coins just newer clad stuff. The one shotgun head I did keep, upper right, is a 10 ga.
