Picked up a low wall - callturner - 04-11-2017

I picked up an original Winchester low wall last night. Kinda rough but the action is tight. I don't know much about them other than what little I've read. End of the bbl mic'd .313 and I'm gonna cast the chamber to see what it really is. Winchester records show it being built in 1889 according to the serial number. A fine coat of rust inside and out but I guess if I get to be 128 years old I'll be a little rusty too.

.313 and lowall, would most likely be a 32 wcf. (32-20 to the unwashed)

Man that sounds like a good one, I passed up one with a liner in 32 WCF at a gun show on a Sunday when they were packing up.

Got it disassembled and started removing over 100 years of rust and crud from the barrel . I spent 2 hrs and don' think I made a dent in it.

Lot's of elbow grease to get all the gunk out of those old barrels. I'm still working on the Borchardt.

RE: Picked up a low wall - callturner - 04-13-2017

I scrubbed on the barrel and found out I have a 32 short rim fire.

RE: Picked up a low wall - Don McDowell - 04-14-2017

Well that's going to need a centerfire conversion..

RE: Picked up a low wall - callturner - 04-16-2017

I've read a little about the centerfire conversions. Also since the bore is not in the greatest shape, I have read that some folks reline the barrel while others have them bored larger. Can you point me to someone who might take a project like this on? I read that a fellow named Lee Shavers does this occasionally. I'm kinda new to BPCR and don't know many people yet. Thanks Mike.

As it is rimfire already , might be a candidate to reline/rebarrel to 22.
I don't know of any particular smith , but Wyoming Armory might be a great place to start.
