A little primer information - Kurt - 04-21-2017
Large Rifle Standard
CCI 200 - mild in brisance. Hard enough for use in semi-automatics.
CCI BR2 - same as the 200 but the match version. Hard enough for use in semi-automatics.
Federal 210 - medium brisance between CCI/Remington & Winchester. Do not use in semi-automatics.
Federal 210M - match version of the above primer. Do not use in semi-automatics.
Magtech PR-LR
Remington 9 ½ - mild in brisance.
Winchester WLR - the hottest standard primer. Hard enough for use in semi-automatics.
Large Rifle Magnum
CCI 250
CCI #34 - commercial version of the fully-qualified DOD primer for use in U.S. military ammo.
Federal 215 - original magnum primer
Remington 9 ½ M - mildest magnum primer.
Winchester WLRM

Most of my rifles the Win LRP works the best. Especially the large capacity cases like the .50-2.5 and the .44-2-5/8-90 bn. The CCI 200 is also my choice. I see no difference between the CCI 200 or the Br-2.

CCI's are seldom a bad choice. Br-2's seem to work better with most bp loads. Rp 9 1/2 and Olde E go together like apples and pie crust.

CCI-BR2s are seldom a bad choice with hvy. wt. bullets and hvy. wt powder charges per caliber. When dropping the charges as much as 5.0 gr. I have found F210Ms to also work well. Problem I run into is finding enough F210Ms at the local GS, as I also use them in smokeless rifles, LOL.

My paper patch .45-70's seem to really like the Winchester Large Rifle primers too.

Yeah something on the order of if they are good enough for Kenny W it means they should work for all.

Last Oct. I left-off w/Kenny W. some "old" white box WLR primers to use as he sees fit. I have not heard how he likes them, LOL

In the past I favored the Alcan primers.
Don mentions the Rem 9 1/2's but they gave me a bad taste several years ago with a bunch of vertical strings and I never went back to them. I have a friend that is a Remington collector he has some of the finest Hepburn's and very fine .22 rifles of kinds and if the ammo and primers don't say Remington he wont use it
I seen him tape several trays of Remington primers together and tape them to a stick stuck in the ground and shot them, they made a heck of a bang, I asked him why are you shooting those primers? he said that is all they are good for Maybe they improved since then.

Just saying if you want to take Olde E from good enough to bounce a bullet into one of the Quigley targets good enough to get a pin, try them RP primers and you too can shoot 80's at 1000 yds. Or shoot 8 straight pigs with paper patch and blow tube..
