44 PP - Hiwall55 - 04-29-2017 Don could you tell me the dimensions of your dual diameter 44PP mould, and what kind of paper (dia.) do you use? Bill RE: 44 PP - Don McDowell - 04-29-2017 The base is .435, the nose is approximately 3/4 in. long with a diameter at the transition to the base at ..429. Wrap it in Seth Cole 55w patch, either 3/4 in wide or 7/8, depending on whether the bullet is set for 1.1 or 1.3 inches long. [attachment=878] RE: 44 PP - Don McDowell - 04-29-2017 It's the second and 3rd bullet's from the left. The 4th is my .434480 from BACO RE: 44 PP - Hiwall55 - 04-30-2017 Thanks Don the dimensions are good to know also a keen looking bullet. The 500 grain BACO money that I got with the 44/70 won't work right , it's too long and to get it to seat in the Roller I have to push the wad past the bottom of the neck. Not conductive to good accuracy. I think I'll look into getting a dual diameter mould made. Thanks Bill RE: 44 PP - Don McDowell - 04-30-2017 I had Brooks make this mould. He will put about any nose you want in those, but this old sharps nose sure smacks things, and amazingly enough it flies to 1000 yds just fine. I seat it so that the transition just comes past the case mouth about as far as would the driving bands on a greaser. |
