Alma MI. August match results - Kurt - 08-21-2017 I just got this from Steve and I will post the results from Alma MI. As a have said several times Alma is a match well worth attending. It is a well run match with very good folks shooting it. Kurt Fellow shooters Our August shoot at Alma saw three shooters shoot master scores. Congratulations to Greg Vest, Brent Danielson and Cody Primeau. Brent on his first visit to Alma shot a 32 each day. Very impressive shooting for the first time shooting a new range. Not sure if it would be some type of range record for a visitor but I am sure its the first time its been done with paper patched bullets at Alma. Cody who is new this year to shooting BPCS has his first master score. If I count correctly its been ten matches he has competed in, also very impressive. As good as Cody's been shooting it would not be surprising see him in the master class next season. The weather could have been better as we had a half hour delay due to rain on Saturday, about half way though the match. The wind on Saturday was intermittent strong gusty head winds along with some swirling between rams and turkeys. Sunday was uncommonly calm, by far the best shooting day we have had this year. All in all this year we have had decent weather its like they say ' could be better could be worse'. A special thank you to Dave Gubert who has not even shot a match this year but is always at the range Friday morning setting targets for us. Thank you Dave. Also thanks to all the shooters that stay after the match Sunday to help put everything back were it belongs it is VERY much appreciated. As always thank you Debbie and M J for the cookies and snacks you bring to the match each month you treat us like family. The friends/friendships we make is the best part of competing in this sport. September 9th and 10th will be our last match for the year. It will be a registered match. Steve RE: Alma MI. August match results - Dave Roelle - 08-23-2017 Sounds like a great match Kurt---------shooting with a good crew is Crucial to the FUN Remind those master class wanna-bees its a one way trip ![]() Stay safe Dave RE: Alma MI. August match results - Kurt - 08-23-2017 Dave it is a great place to shoot a match. I started last year because a friend kept after me to join him over there to shoot the iron critters so I went last year just to give it a try and give in to him Dave the bug bit me hard that first time there. It was fun and I enjoyed the shooters at that range and the six trips I shot the silhouette matches at Alma I made good friends and worked my way up the ladder from unclassified to tipple A. The bug bit me so hard that I just had a new rifle build for the iron critters. Maybe some day if I can ever get the chickens to stand still I will get that grand slam I'm working for. Kurt RE: Alma MI. August match results - Don McDowell - 08-23-2017 Need to be watching those chickens, Kurt , you shoot all the lay downs and whack 1 chicken, master class here we come
RE: Alma MI. August match results - Dave Roelle - 08-24-2017 Won on chickens. Lost on pigs ![]() It is addicting we shoot 2 big bore and one 22 BPCR each month except Nov and Dec 22's are cool cuz you can watch every thing happen in your scope or irons Certainly keeps you casting bullets Stay Safe Dave RE: Alma MI. August match results - Kurt - 08-24-2017 I get along pretty well with the laydowns. The thing that hurts with the chickens is hitting them in the right order and getting credit for it ![]() Well got the honey dues done time to pick up the 12# .22 and hit some paper chickens
RE: Alma MI. August match results - Don McDowell - 08-24-2017 Kurt get the templates and cut yourself a bank of 22 bpcr chickens, then go work on them. That will help greatly when it comes to the other offhand stuff. RE: Alma MI. August match results - Dave Roelle - 08-24-2017 CHICKENS those evil dastardly feathered fiends !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on the odd occasion when i can actually STAND STILL-------They move by themselves Specially the the 22 Chickens -------last match i witnessed one spun 90 degrees, another knocked over but not off the rail !!!!!!!Next time Next time
RE: Alma MI. August match results - Martini2 - 08-24-2017 Hmmmm Chickens, my experience at last Alma Mi. shoot was sending one bird to flatsville. However since it was on anothers' bank there was no marks for me;-) I did turn to the party that was assigned to that bank with apology which was readily accepted and at same time we celebrated that least one O'dem chickens bit the dust ;-) This was only the 40-65 "Lucy"s second official Holy Black match. I've been fortunate to have been in other shooting sports for most 60 years. However as score sheet shows this venture onto "dark side" is like staring over. Well it is still worth it to be sure. Being there is much better than sitting about reading about it.
RE: Alma MI. August match results - Kurt - 08-24-2017 It's not only shooting on the dark side but also seeing through the dark side ![]() Don already have some printed out. It's just taking the time to shoot them been so busy casting bullets and working up loads for little Missy that things like practice gets laid aside.I see posts now and then for Silhouette targets information. Here is a good place to get the proper targets made and information on sizes. http://www.ihmsa.org/targets/ |
