Elk ? - bobw - 10-31-2012

Don you find an elk yet over there? bob

RE: Elk ? - Don McDowell - 10-31-2012

Nope, not yet. How about you? you get anything yet?

RE: Elk ? - bobw - 11-01-2012

one dead one from last year and a cow on private that went over to tribal land before permission to hunt could be secured. Its been rough, the corn harvest was complete before the season I have even started. With the loss of cover the elk went back to the pine covered hills belonging to the tribe. Got lots of fresh air, exercise, 2 grouse, 1 coyote on the last trip to Bennett co. will leave again friday evening for the weekend. The tribe starts hunting this weekend hopefully that will move some elk around where I can get at them. Going BH deer hunting this morning as soon as the 50 yd visibility clears from the fog. bob

damn bob that dead one from last year is going to be a little chewy doncha think? You must be getting really desperate...I could send you a pound of hamburger if it would help.

RE: Elk ? - bobw - 11-01-2012

Well Dean then local coyotes didn't leave enuf to test the chewy part. Not desperate yet still have some freezer bait you know. Assuming I'm almost outta meat would be like you saying you were almost outta lead, LOL Not gonna happen right? bob

Any updates on the elk Don? I have hunted them now for 15 days and about ready to move on with other hunts bobw

RE: Elk ? - Don McDowell - 11-14-2012

Nope, nobody seems to be able to find them around here.
Went up on the Bearlodge a couple days last week. Bluetongue sure has raised cain with the whitetails there.

RE: Elk ? - Old Jim - 11-15-2012

Bluetongue has made its way to mid-America also. Last year, we knew of 2 whitetail deer succumb to it. In that same GMU this year, so far ... 66.

At the check-station on Wed., I saw a truck with 4 of the thinest, frail-looking does in the back. We did have a hot, dry summer here.

Deer hunting here has also been poor for me. Hindsight is 20/20 and foresight not worth a damn. Guess if I tallied the incidentals and gas ,I could have had a 2000# buffalo instead of a yearling coming up. bobw
