What I believe this flier is for is what used to be the NMLRA western national shoot, but for what ever reason the NMLRA isn't doing it anymore. Hopefully we see the fliers for the USIMLT world match and the 1000 yard match, which are supposed to start immediately after this one.

If the Gypsy wagon isn't buried too deep in the snow bank this might be a good time to dig it out and the old Southern Mountain Rifle and a couple others and a couple pounds of powder in the wagon and head south west.

Not sure what matches this one lets cartridge rifle in, but there's apparently something.
The USIMLT match will include cartridge rifles for 3 days, and then a couple of days off and then the 1000 yard world championship follows, so for sure cartridge guns will be busy from March 2 thru the 10th. Also in those matches word is they will have target pullers so there wouldn't be any pit duty.
If the plans all come thru.

I shot in both those matches last March. Both were extremely well run. The USIMLT people had muzzle loaders from New Zealand, some vintage snipers, and us BPCR shooters. We shot according to our own sport's scoring rules etc so it was like shooting a regular BPTR match. Only you watched some USIMLT guys front stuffing on the line or you noticed the crack of a 30.06 in the pits. The RV/tent campground on the range complex is fine and there are restaurants, morning coffee, etc on the other side of the interstate about a mile away and no traffic. There was even 25-32 mph sustained cross winds from both directions at once for the first four days and squirrely winds the rest of the time to provide adverse wind training for the spotters. The "off days" we still had informal shooting so there was no lack of opportunity to shoot 1000 yards. I brought three different rifles to test at 1000 yards and I shot all three during the off days. I would go again this year but we have another commitment close to that time. I will certainly plan for 2020. Highly recommend the trip.

Take note the dates are a day off, so instead of ending the 11th, it will end the 10th of March. Hopefully a corrected form will be out shortly, but just in case ....

Kurt, I think there's been consistently around 30 shooters.
This year I think they are providing target pullers, but don't hold me to that just yet. That would be way cool, just set the sun shade up, tables to clean the guns, chairs to lounge in when not shooting..a nice jug of cool water, sit between shooting/spotting details, and watch the desert bighorns play in the rocks beyond the berms..
The Ben Avery is a neat place to camp and shoot. I need to get my camp ground reservation, new printer cartridges so I can print out entry forms, and a boat load of ammunition loaded..
