Guys, strange question I'm sure, but what top punch (RCBS lube a matic) do you use for the Lyman 535 gr. Postell .45 cal bullet? When I do a search it comes up with a #535 but that shows a 115 gr. 30 cal bullet if I recall correctly. Or is it the correct bullet shape that they share in common? Thanks so much for the info. Don't want to buy the wrong parts if I can help it! Russ

for what its worth, I would try putting a bullet in a case and see if it will chamber in your rifle, if it will just pan lube and shoot them that way. If that doesn't work for you, if you look up the Lyman mold, it should list the top punch some place in the mold listing or on the Lyman web site. If you can't find a top punch locally or from MIdway, you can always pan lube them and then use a Lee sizing die and push them through from the botton with your loading press.

I can't remember if it was on Midway's site or which, but there was a cross list for lyman and RCBS bullets that cross referenced nose punches. But the Lyman and RCBS nose punches are interchangeable between brands of lubrisizer's, so you could just order the lyman nose punch and use it in your RCBS lubamatic.

Lumpy, haven't even gotten that far yet. Just trying to round up as much stuff as I can before I start. I live about 150 miles past the last stop sign and can't run down to the local store when I need something. Thanks. Russ

Who made you rifle?
Some like a 'fat' bullet as it comes out of the mould around .460-.461 dia.
I have found our 2 Shiloh's like them around .458-.459 as they drop out of the Paul Jones mould.

I used a Lyman #132 nose punch for both the .45 postel and the .40 snover

Just get a nose punch that over sized or drill one out and put some liquid metal in the cavity and use at the bullet you want with some release on it and form your own.

Lumpy, it is a Shiloh 45-90 that I just purchased unfired. I will try some of the responses here and see what I find out, which I am sure will be a lot! SO much knowledge here. I am a 50+ year experienced handloader with much competition behind me, (IHMSA, 600&1000 IBS), but the more i read here the more I realize I am just so ignorant in many things. I have been reading nearly non-stop since finding this and other sites dealing with bullet casting and am trying to soak it all in! Age makes you realize this I guess. I am patient though, and I will learn MUCH from the people on this site. Thanks for the replies. They are much appreciated. Russ
