Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - Lumpy Grits - 05-11-2012 Who's using what and why? Gary RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - Don McDowell - 05-11-2012 I have one from Crossno for the 40-65, cuz I like the breech set up better than the Shaver. RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - Dan Cash - 05-11-2012 Mine is a Crossno for .45-70. It shoots better than a couple of big name German .22 match rifles I used to have and way better than a Walther sporting rifle I still have. RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - Ted Kramer - 05-12-2012 Mine's a Shaver because that's the only one that'd work in my .40-70-2.5" with it's smaller rim diameter. It's sort of a pain in the butt at times because the anvils get dented by the firing pin and then you get misfires. BUT, it's very accurate. I haven't used it in a long while since I got my old Stevens 44 going. RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - dag - 05-14-2012 I have both Shaver and Crossno. Both are accurate and easy to put in the rifle. I think the Shaver is a pain to operate, at least for me it's hard to get the .22 cartridge into the liner barrel. With the Crossno for whatever reason I can not get my point of impact lower than 3 inches high at 75 yards, and yes I have tried various things to get it down. RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - Lumpy Grits - 05-14-2012 Does the POI "drift" when you remove and re-install the liner? I understand they have to be "indexed" to operate correctly and for shell extraction. What holds the liners in place? "O" rings?? Gary RE: Rimfire liners for our BPCR's - dag - 05-14-2012 I have tried changing the index and it will change the point of impact, but not enough on the Crossno, for the Shaver I put a mark for the index after that it didn't change as long as it was lined up with mark. The Shaver has some type of foam type stuff around the liner to hold it in place, the Crossno much harder what I can only call bumps that do the same thing. I'm using a Crossno .22 insert in a Shiloh .45/70 std. 30" heavy oct. barrel. The "why" part is they have a good reputation, Shiloh handles and recommends them, and they seem to perform well on paper.
