Olde E and the BACO bullet - Don McDowell - 05-13-2013

oops...Ok back to the powder and bullet and the 44-77, but the cat was cool and he never said a mumblinn
.Shot the BACO bullet with 2f and 1.5 f Olde E. Both powders shot well , as in 2moa and less at 800 well.
It was 91 degrees and 15% humidity. The 2f loads (74grs) were a bit more compressed with the bullet seated deeper than the 1.5 (75 grs.) The 2f loads only needed 1 wet and 1 dry to keep on chugging along, the 1.5 needed 2 wets and a dry.
But here comes the next neat part. Had some Tankbusters loaded with 1.5. Both the 1.35 inch length and the 1.1. All rounds were loaded with the muzzleloaders original dry lubed felt wad, and the rubber cork wad, and the patch wiped with jojoba oil after seating in the case, and wiped dry before being put back in the loading block. Both the tank busters held close to 2 moa, for 10 rounds, and both were just blowtubed. Several of those rounds were touching.
The wind was playing funny little games and I'ld loose the target for a bit, then when I'ld get the wind caught up with accuracy was right there.

Bullet is 1.35
I had enough to do trying to dope the wind , shoot, and spot the shot all by myself, the dog didn't want to go along and take pictures...

I met ol Hoyt once at the Ft. Bridger Rondevous and a couple times at the National Western..
Yes it's BACO's semi spritzer, I asked them to make the .430 to 434 and trim the length to 1.35. and they did and by jing it's workin like a champ so far.

sometimes you try stuff and it works.
sometimes it doesn't work.
while it is better when it does work, either way you learn something, and of course you also gain holding and squeezing practice as a bonus.

Bruce up until today I had not seen any accuracy from this Olde Eynsford powder to get excited about, but today the stuff laid enough bullets one on top of the other, I can get excited.
Thinking about grabbing up another 10 lbs of the 2f.

Mike both the 1.5 and the 2 shot well, but the 2 held the edge with the cleaner burning.
