Accurate Yardages - Dan Cash - 05-17-2012 When you go to a gong match, how accurate do you expect the posted yardages to be? Spot on or about? Dan RE: Accurate Yardages - Old Jim - 05-17-2012 Mostly, about, I guess. I try to get enough shots on target to make me ready, no matter the posted distance. At the ranges I visit, even the recorded sight-settings from previous years can be different by a couple of min. or more .Jim RE: Accurate Yardages - dag - 05-17-2012 About. So long as about is within 30 or so yards one way or the other. I was at a shoot where the about was so poor the first shots could not be seen in the scope, made for alot of wasted shots trying to get a proper sight setting. RE: Accurate Yardages - Don McDowell - 05-17-2012 I like for them to be as close as possible, realizing that 10-15 yds one way or the other won't make alot of difference. RE: Accurate Yardages - knobsmt - 05-17-2012 close as possible is best ..some range finders read differnt than others .. RE: Accurate Yardages - Dan Cash - 05-17-2012 Thanks for your input, fellows. Last year our target ranges at the Badlands shoot were posted as close as we could get them with a measuring wheel. This year, they are set by GPS. Our about was not too bad but it is better now. RE: Accurate Yardages - bobw - 05-18-2012 Leica Vector IV's, lazer rangefinding binos', nicest optics I ever have used and accurate. Only cost ~$3000 or so. Yeah as much as a new Shiloh but really serious glass. bobw RE: Accurate Yardages - Rick Mulhern - 03-25-2013 Google Earth....is right on the money!! You'll have to allow for upgrade or downgrade shooting! RE: Accurate Yardages - Kurt - 03-26-2013 My Garmin eTrex GPS gives me an accuracy of 8' outside in the clear no matter what the distance is. ![]() RE: Accurate Yardages - chaneylake - 03-26-2013 I have never been to a match but my yardages at my home range are spot on, within .01 of a foot, I am a retired Registered Land Surveyor, lol |
