Late Season Stuff - Creeker - 12-09-2013

As I age I care less & less to sit on a stand for hours on end waiting for the big buck. We have a M/L season for a week after buck/gun season followed by a week of doe season. This is the time of year I love being in the woods & even through Jan/Feb/Mar just shooting crows & varmints but that's another story.

These are my late season tools. Now they aren't the nice stuff you guys shoot but they work in the woods. The 74 is from Italy & the M/L from Spain.

I'll shoot these tomorrow. The 74 will get a 430 grain FN. It's a gas check bullet which I've loaded with 25 grains of 5744 till this year when I bumped to 27 grains. The load on the left is my plinker, the Saeco/Redding 015 & 10 grains of Unique.

Lynn is that muzzle stuffer an old CVA?

Been load'n .45-70 'lite' loads w/Unique for decades.
Use a 420 FP with 14 gn of Unique and a firm crimp in my Japchester '86.

Don the M/L is by Ardesa. It has a 1 in 60 twist best I can measure, a round ball gun. Love shooting the thing & should more often.

Was wondering what it was as the lock sure looked like the CVA's used to have. Those were pretty good shooting guns.
Feller don't need much more than a round ball gun, if you do it's time for a cartridge gun.Big Grin

Round balls drop deer with authority.

Yes they do. They also make a mess out of antelope if you get anything other than a rib cage..
I finally got all the stuff rounded up I need to make ol Klatch go klakswish boom again.. Now just need some warm weather and a bit of time...
