I might see if the wife would like to venture out next year to some shoots with me. We got a camper and we should use it as much as we can.

We use ours every month with the exception of October as I winterize it. We've had temps in the 20's and I don't want to chase leaking pipes in the spring.
We tow it down to Ridgway and stay right at the range for the shoots starting in April. When the shoot is over, we take a few extra days and go places. We usually stay in KOA's, get a pull through site with hook ups. She loves it.
We've been putting about 7500 miles a year on it.

I don't think that there is a better way going to shoots then in a Gypsy wagon. When you get there you get together with friends that set up along side you and spend the evenings BSing and spending time with them.
We try not to take the same routs and I spend most of the time on the two tracks seeing new country.
There for a while I traded every year or two looking for the perfect gypsy wagon that is large enough for comfort and small enough for the National Forest's. I now have a 26' class C motor home that is about as close to the perfect camper. Rides good and if you want to go to the mall it's just about like a pickup for getting around. If I hang out in the hills I will put the jeep behind it.

I like having options.
If just going for a couple of days, and won't need to go back and forth from the line to the pits, then the motorhome is fine.
If however like the bptr nationals, and you're there for a week, and need transport back and forth from the line to the pits, then the 5th wheel is my favored. The nice thing with the 5th wheel aside from the extra room, is the ability to run into town for supper and the like without moving the whole durned camp..

They certainly seem a top idea and the opportunity to camp in proximity to fellow shooters and friends must make that whole experience so much more rewarding. At this stage though...I'm finding one 'carry on' ..one bag & one gun box are about all I want to take on the plane

Don, That's why I tow the jeep behind when we take off for most of the summer. Just for a weekend I leave it home.

I only loose a MPG towing the jeep behind the motor home and I get 11 MPG running it.
